Pal robbed the part from another dog, although he didn’t fit the collie’s standards, he was supposed to be her understudy but he crossed the river and his performance was perfect. The head of MGM said “Pal had entered the water, but Lassie had come out.”
Ever since all Lassies are his male descendants, the males are bigger and more impressive.
Lassie even has his own star embedded in Hollywood Blv.
